Multi-criteria optimization
also multi-objective optimization, vector optimization, or multi-criteria
decision making. Optimization with regard to multiple objective functions
aiming at a simultanous improvement of the objectives.
The goals are usually conflicting so that an optimal
solution in the conventional sense does not exist.
Instead one aims at e.g.
Pareto optimality,
i.e., one has to find the
Pareto set
from which the user can
choose a qualified solution.
