expression of the properties coded by the individual's genotype. The expression/development of the phenotype can additionally be influenced by (stochastic) constraints. The precise definition is mostly problem-dependent. For parameter optimization the phenotype is usually identical with the object parameters, whereas for structure optimization (e.g. of neural networks) the phenotype represents a specific structure.
